A life long interest in historical reproduction led to my inevitable interest in period interior decorating and hand crafts. I collect and research objects and furniture found at garage sales, thrift shops and antique stores; the rest I make. Mediums include painting, stenciling, needlework, crocheting, weaving, sewing, chainmailling, and more. I enjoy sustainable living, particularly those aspects of ancient life that could benefit from a modern revival.
Past projects have included Colonial-era reproduction stencilling work, an interior landscape mural, uniquely designed bed curtains, and a bedspread tapestry depicting the tile floor of Clarendon Palace, which took a total of 2 years to complete. I also built a 9-foot indoor aviary to house a collection of exotic finches.
My love of history is part of what inspires me to make art. In past times, every craftsman was an artist of sorts; even everyday items were decorative works of art, and it's sad that we've lost that rich aspect of life. I enjoy recreating that feel in my home environment.
